Declared official dogma by Pope Pius XII, the Pope proclaimed in 1950 that “The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul to heavenly glory.” On August 15th, a Holy Day of Obligation, we gather to celebrate and commemorate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven.

Please note that the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Day of Holy Obligation, and therefore all Catholics must attend Mass on this day to fulfill the obligation.
