Blessing of Wine — Feast of St. John the Apostle Saturday, December 27th after the 9:00 AM Mass
In honor of the Feast of St. John the Apostle, the traditional Blessing of Wine will take place following the 9:00 AM Mass.
According to tradition, St. John was once served poisoned wine, but after he blessed it, the poison rose from the chalice in the form of a serpent, leaving him unharmed. In remembrance of this miracle, Catholics bring wine to be blessed on his feast day. Once blessed, this wine becomes a sacramental known as the “Love of St. John” and may be used throughout the year for special occasions.
