St. Peter’s is preparing to create a Memorial Garden to honor all of our babies who left this world too soon through miscarriage, stillbirth, or other forms of infant loss.
The garden will be located at the back of the parish property, behind the school and to the left of the cemetery. It will include a walking path leading to a bench and a custom-commissioned statue of Our Lady.
This beautiful gift is being made possible through the generosity of The Rae of Sunshine Foundation of Long Grove, IL. Their donation includes the garden bench, monument, statue, and all of the plants that will transform the space into a peaceful sanctuary, a place where parents can come to grieve, to remember, to hope, and to pray. We are deeply grateful for their kindness and support in bringing this space to life.
Anyone who has been impacted by the loss of a baby is welcome to help us plant the garden on Friday, June 27th, starting at 3:00 PM. The plants and tools will all be there, we just need some helping hands. So, bring a pair of gardening gloves and join us as we create the Holy Innocents Memorial Garden.
We would also appreciate the help of any American Heritage Girls who are available.
The Rae of Sunshine (ROS) Foundation was created in loving memory of Raegan Lee Migacz, who passed away in June 2021 at only four days old. Raegan’s parents, Dan and Callen Migacz, are the founders of the Foundation and they will be there on the 27th. More information about the great work they are doing to honor their precious girl's legacy can be found online at www.facebook.com/Please share this invitation with anyone you think would find some healing in being present.
