The Blessing of Throats

 
We invite the parish to join us on the Feast of St. Blaise, this Friday, February 3rd, for the blessing of throats, following all masses.
 
St. Blaise, Bishop and martyr, was a medical healer before becoming a ‘healer of souls’, and is remembered for curing a boy choking with a bone stuck in his throat. That is why St. Blaise is invoked for the blessing of throats, with candles blessed on Candlemas.
