The Ember Days are ancient days of fasting and penance which took place on a Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at the beginning of each season. The 1st record of them is attributed to Pope St. Callistus in 222 AD. These 3-days at the beginning of Lent are an opportunity to start out our Lenten observances on the right foot.
We ask you to join us in observing the Lenten Ember days this week on March 1st, 3rd, and 4th, with fasting and abstinence. Also, please consider joining us for Mass or the Divine Office on these days as well.
