As we enter the holiday season with preparations for Advent underway, we are turning our eyes to Christmas. Over more than a year and a half there have been families here in our parish, and in our communities, who are struggling and have been going without. In keeping with past tradition, and embracing the spirit of charity, we will once again host
The Giving Tree here at St. Peter’s.
In the past,
The Giving Tree had been set up in the vestibule of the church to allow parishioners and visitors to select an ornament from the tree, which listed the Christmas wish of someone in need. Last year, for the first time, we operated a virtual wish list, which made selecting someone in need easy to do from anywhere.
This year we will again operate a virtual Giving Tree. We are again only requesting gift cards for our families and individuals in need. This not only helped last year in simplifying the distribution of gifts but also helps empower those in need by giving them the opportunity to shop and select items for themselves and their families.
