If you are a returning family, we are happy to have you back with us this year. If you are enrolling your children for the first time, we welcome you and are excited for you to be a part of our St. Peter's Religious Ed Family!
Please note, the deadline to register for the 2022-2023 School Year has passed. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact our Religious Education Coordinator at religioused@stpetervolo.org.
What is Required to Register for Religious Education?
Families must be registered parishioners at St. Peter's to be eligible to enroll in the Religious Education program. In addition to being registered as parishioners, your family must also be active members of the parish. That means that St. Peter's is the church where your family is attending Mass each Sunday.
What Classes are Offered?
For the purpose of Sacramental preparation, St. Peter's offers a 2-year formation program for First Communion, as well as a 2-year program for Confirmation.
An Intermediate Class is also offered for those students wishing to continue their formation between Sacraments. This year the class will focus on Bible History of the Old Testament.
Returning again this year is Post-Confirmation Studies, a 1-year course based on the St. Pius X Catechism, taught by Peter Nordlund. Those students who successfully complete the course will be awarded the St. Peter Catechism Award of Excellence. Classes take place on Tuesday nights at the same time as the rest of our Religious Education lessons. Students must be at least 13 years old and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation to enroll in this course.

When do Classes Meet?
Religious Ed takes place on Tuesday evenings, from 6:15 PM - 7:30 PM. Classes run from September through May.
How are the Classes Taught?
Classes are taught in English by volunteers who are made up of parents of children in our program as well as other adults and older teens from the parish. Our teachers are given ongoing support and the materials needed in order to successfully pass on the Faith.
What is required of families outside of the classroom?
We expect and require that all families in our program are registered and active parishioners here at St. Peter's. That means that this is your parish, where you attend Mass on Sundays, participate in the parish life, give back, and more. The primary purpose of Religious Education is to educate our children in the faith and to prepare them for their Sacraments. Sacraments are meant to be celebrated within the parish family. If you are not attending Mass at St. Peter's, please contact the Parish Office to discuss further.
What is Expected of Parents?
Parental involvement is a MUST! We are partners in the religious education of your children, with key support and involvement beginning at home. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to attend a class, and there will be various activities throughout the year where we count on parent support and attendance to help engage the students in the Faith.
What is the Cost of Religious Education?
Our current cost is $100 Per Student. There is also a $25 fee for Students in the second year 1st Communion program and a $50 fee for students in the second year Confirmation program. However, our priority is on ensuring that all children of the parish receive the faith formation they need to prepare for the Sacraments and grow in their faith. Financial assistance is available on a case-by-case basis.
How do I Register My Child?
During open registration, you will return to this page to complete and submit both the Sign-Up form as well as the Student Forms.
